Spiral Welded Tube & Pipe Manufacturing Process

Spiral welded tube & pipe is manufactured from stainless and mild steel hot or cold rolled coil strip. The coil is loaded on a mandrel from which it is decoiled, flattened, edged trimmed. The strip is guided into a forming station at a predetermined angle and spiralled to produce a cylindrical hollow ensuring proper welding gap between abutting edges.

The diameter of the tube or pipe is determined by altering the angle of the coil strip feed entering the spiral weld mill and welded.

The strip is welded internally and externally either by M.I.G. or T.I.G. depending on the steel and the ultimate end use requirement of the tube or pipe and cut to a predetermined length using a automatic cutting off device.
